These are the Days of Our Lives...

Today I:
got my teeth cleaned
washed the car
emailed and read some blogs
vacuumed and mopped the kitchen
took a check to the post office
made a color copy at the library of a knitting pattern for my sister
stopped in to the doctor to see about a burning in my abdomen but he was out to lunch
checked out an unofficial biography of Stephanie Meyers from the library
bought 4 cans of fly eradicator spray on sale for $1.99 each
bought TWO miraculous fly traps (still promising a whole blog on "Flies and Me")
hung both fly traps
googled macrame plant hanger instructions (always looking for ways to embrace my inner hippie)
read a printout Paco placed in front of me to torment me, I know!! 2 trips to Paris in March costing less than $1,000 each!!!!
talked on the phone to a new teacher I'll be working with this year
observed all manner of bird craziness while standing on my deck talking on the phone
asked two men in the hardware store if they'd noticed any deviant bird activity--they looked at me like I was a deviant bird as well!
baked a sourdough chocolate cake using my 150 year old sourdough start which I've been rejuvenating and feeding for two days!
told Paco I would thin the carrots but didn't
finished an audio book of Orson Scott Card's Treasure Box. Weird. 9 hours of my life I gave to it!! Nine!!!
almost finished a birthday gift I'm sewing for my friend Les
ran to the post office (yes, twice in one day--I don't pretend to be efficient) to mail a pattern to my sister and a nursery school book to my daughter
planted 4 new perennials in my garden and added peat moss to a bunch of stuff
attended a church picnic where we got rained on and all ate too much
got the lowdown from newly 9 year olded James from my Sunday School class on his birthday trip to Yellowstone
sat in my computer chair to blog--smelling new rain and what it does to new mown hay..and listening to the birds continue their zaniness!!! Actually one of the guys in the hardware store suggested the birds might sense that an earthquake was imminent,'ve been warned.
watched the reddest of red sunsets
And that is a Day of My Life. What about YOU????

Ho Hum...

The balmy days of summer...they seem to have lulled my blog to sleep! We here at Provident Heritage Farm are, nevertheless, way past the productive stage and moving right into "Wow!! Look at 'em go!" stage. All but Mugsy. He's semi-comatose. And he "slept out" last night. I remember many a summer night "sleeping out" with friends whether in a tent or under the stars. Raiding gardens with reckless abandon. Spying. Nonchalantly walking through the kitchen prior to the sleepout and pilfering entire bags of chocolate chips!! I need to walk around and take some pictures--Paco's blooming shed reconstruction, his outasight new woodshed, my English garden, our new perennial bed, and Dalai Llama dripping in her shedding fleece. I tell you. We're a regular Country Living centerfold here. I even washed windows today in order to be able to see it all more clearly. Today I drove over to the nursery on the east side of Bear Lake hot in pursuit of hostas. On the way home I stopped the car to let a whole family (mom, dad, uncles, aunts, kiddoes) of ducks cross the road and drop into a pond on the other side. Then a little while later I had to swerve around something white and massive and dead with feathers all around. Pelican? How do you think THAT happened? Flying? Walking? Jogging? I shudder. I've been composing a fly update. I know some of you are assuming that we licked our fly problems. Au contraire. One of our hawks, either Hawk Eye or B.J., was seen yesterday carrying a large branch southward. Hmmm...another Mother Nature mystery. Adding on? Child discipline? Maybe just plain body building. And a moral dilemma--do we take our truck up and help ourselves to the massive bale of hay at the side of the highway that's been there for 4 days for next winter's llama feed? Or is that just WRONG WRONG WRONG!???

91 Year Age Difference

But they can still be friends...

Friday, July 9, 2010

I have had to resort to pirating pictures from other blogs because my camera is AWOL. I'm also dependant upon pictures that are sent to me for my summer memory jollies. This is Lucy, Lily, and Clara in stripes, I guess. I like the sudden influx of girls into our family! I foresee buggies, dollies, tea parties, and matching dresses!

Mugso Polo

Dear Mugsy,
It has come to my attention that during my three week hiatus as your caregiver you have fallen into the path of sin and are wandering. Paco says that you disappear each morning around 8 and don't return for at least 12 hours. When you DO surface you are dirty, bear signs of having swum, and are sticky. Now, Mugsy, I understand your situation. You were bred for hundreds of years to sit in the laps of Chinese aristocracy. Life on a farm is just a temporary gig for you until your REAL family claims you and you are placed on a diminuative satin pillow. At least this is YOUR take on it. I know you've complained that you want MORE. We've discussed this before. But being a farm dog enforces certain rules upon you. 1) you stay at home within the confines of our 8 acres 2)you shy clear of all sticks, burrs, sap and anything else that will embed in your white long hair 3)we need to know where you are!!!! Good Grief!!!!! and 4)irrigation ditches are swirling pools of DEATH and OFF LIMITS You are guilty on all 4 counts.
Tonight as I bathed you I found some remnants in your hair that lead me to believe you have possibly discovered an oasis. Are we to understand that you are lounging on the banks of an exclusive waterhole sipping mint juleps? The maraschino cherry-like bits found several places on you just leave me clueless. Might I also surmise there are females involved? Once again, dear, though the truth is painfully blunt, YOU WERE DE-WOO-ED! It just ain't gonna happen for you, Mugsy. Furthermore, any shenanigans involving Snoopy only spell YOU KNOW WHAT!!!!!!!!
We're inploring you. Come home!! Stay home!! Leave your errant bachelor habits! Restrain from ditch dipping! Put down the life of day tripping. Come explore here!! We'll set up an obstacle course! I'll make espresso!! For the love of all we hold dear...
